Math

If you have followed this blog over a period of time, you may have noticed that this weekly blog covers everything from leadership to personal development / improvement to improving your skills in sales.

In math, there are 4 actions taken to solve an equation.

·        Add

·        Subtract

·        Multiply

·        Divide

It has been said there are 4 types of people in the world.  Ironically, the same 4 items can be listed…..

Adders – These people add value to your life.  They are encouragers, cheerleaders, and upbeat people who act as a catalyst to fuel us forward.  They offer constructive suggestions, share creative energy, and help us to grow.  These are the folks who send a card, shoot off an e-mail, share a text or give you a call when their inner sense tells them you are having a down day.  They are on your wave length listening to your tune.

Subtracters – These people can be a drain on your energy.  They don’t draw from you – they steal from you.  They steal your energy, your creativity, your positive outlook – and they even steal your dream.  Subtracters will talk about you behind your back.  They look at life through pessimistic glasses.  They use the excuse of playing Devil’s advocate to show you how things will not work.  They want to see you get by – just not by them.

Multipliers – What a joy these people are to have in your life.  They are adders to an exponential degree.  They “talk you up” when no one is around.  They sing your praises even when there is no music playing.

Dividers – Always confrontational, these people force you to choose between them and the other person.  These people are perennial victims – the world is constantly screwing them over (at least that’s what they want you to believe).  They drive a wedge between you and your goals or between you and your coworkers, employees, team and family.  Drama always seems to follow them because they either create it or give drama a place to take up residence.  These are the type of people who will step on your neck when you are down on the ground.

So now that we have explored these 4 types of people in our lives……….let’s look inwardly and see which of these four WE are in other people’s lives.

Do we add, subtract, multiply or divide?

<pause for reflection>

Now that we have identified an area for improvement – let’s work on becoming better.

Have a great week.
