How ya gonna know if your roof leaks if you never get any rain?
Years ago, I performed with a ventriloquist named Willie Tyler. Willie and his “partner” Lester became very popular in the late 60’s and early 70’s doing television shows like “Laugh In”.
One of the songs this comedy duet sang was “How ya gonna know if your roof leaks if you never get any rain?” The song was written by Willie Tyler. What an amazing song!
We all go through life with the false concept that things should always go right. Yet, deep down we know that is not reality. Of course, there are some who live life in the negative realm and constantly seek out the doom and gloom. But, we will save that for another blog.
What happens when the roof leaks in your life? Do you freeze up? Do you panic? Do you look for someone or something to project the blame on? Do you seek advice or counsel from a person experienced in that arena? Do you try and fix your own flat tire?
First, allow me to say that if life were a flat level surface with no hills and valleys, it would be boring. Many of us would never try anything new. Nothing new would be created or invented. And certainly what we know of as the way things are would never be improved upon.
Without hiccups in your life, detours in your life journey, and speed bumps along your way everything would be pretty mundane. There would be no peaks and no valleys…..nothing to look forward to, no new experiences.
Those pits in life allow each one of us an opportunity to shine. Leaders glimmer while followers shimmer.
Seize your opportunity to shine when the dark clouds roll in.
It’s all a decision – you can be a victim or a victor. You can be a casualty or a hero.
Have a great week.
Ron
